What am I Reading?

September 2017

I had set a goal to get through some of my comic books in September, and I regret to report I did not read a single one. September was a month of some adjustments for me in my life. I am looking forward to getting more reading in my life come October.

Unabrow: Misadventures of a Late Bloomer by Una LaMarche

#karllikes rating 3

I cannot recall how I added this book to my library. Unabrow is a memoir of Una LaMarche and it was a very easy and quick read. This book did make me laugh, and I loved her down to earth honest experience of being a young woman and mother. I did not leave with any profound thought or inspiration from Unabrow. I think what I will remember is that my husband pointed out that Unabrow was spelled incorrectly. I did not realize it was obviously because the author’s first name was Una until a few evenings after, duh Amanda.

Karllikes Littles Book Feature

The Little Engine that Could by Watty Piper is my son’s pick 100%. I am so over this book is it not even funny. I will admit I even hide this book on the bookshelf hoping he will pick another book, but he always finds it. We received this book from Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library (P.S their logo is a train, Conway pointed it out to me). This book is excellent for little ones, as it has many things to observe, repetition, and also has a sweet little message about believing in yourself. Ok, in the end he could have picked a worse book to be his favourite.

Most if not all of these titles are available at the Wood Buffalo Regional Library. Membership is FREE! Wood Buffalo Regional Library has an amazing selection of books, magazines, audiobooks, children titles, and even comics. With your WBRL membership you also received a free subscription to Hoopla.

We have an amazing local comic shop Nerdvana, if they do not have what you are looking for, they will special order it for you 🙂

#karllikes book rating is done on a 1-5 scale. The scale ranges from 1-I personally did not enjoy the book and see absolutely no chance of recommending it or re-reading it-to 5-I personally thoroughly enjoyed the book and see every chance of recommending it or re-reading the book.
