What am I Listening To?

September 2017

I heard a segment on CBC recently telling me that the album was dead and that it has been replaced by the superior playlist. I love a good playlist do not get me wrong, however listening to a whole album is also an amazing way to experience music. I have decided for this list to share my favourite albums of all time (I do count greatest hits compilations as albums):

Bad Company – 10 from 6

Bob Marley – Legend (Remastered)

Bryan Adams – Cuts Like a Knife

Credence River Revival – The Best of Credence River Revival (2 Disks)

Meatloaf – Bat Out of Hell

Dixie Chicks – Taking the Long Way

Guns N’ Roses – Greatest Hits

Lynard Skynard – Skynyrd’s Innyrds: Greatest Hits

Nirvana – MTV Unplugged in New York (Live)

Janis Joplin – Big Brother And The Holding Company – Box of Pearls Collection

Jonny Lang – Lie to Me

Aerosmith – Toys in the Attic

Matthew Good Band – The Audio of Being – Ps. life goal is to learn to play the guitar enough to do Matthew Good Band acoustic covers…it was hard for me to pick just one album, I love love love love all of them.

I am not sure if these are connected or not (most likely they are) but all of my selections are of albums I had as physical tapes or CD’s. I do feel the method of consumption does have something to do with the popularity of the playlist. I get a real nostalgic feeling when I listen to the above as an album instead of just my favourite songs! Friends who know I am a Lady Gaga super fan: I couldn’t pick one as my favourite so I didn’t add an album (I also tend to listen to Lady Gaga as an artist on shuffle instead of album specific). Please share your favourites with me!
